What's the role of a celebrant?

As your celebrant I have the very special job of marrying you. 

​

In NZ you can have a registry ceremony, which is a standardised ceremony with very little flexibility on location and ceremony. This is sometimes called a courthouse wedding and isn't very common in NZ.

​

The majority of couples have a personalised ceremony and I offer three styles of personalised ceremonies. All ceremonies I assist you with applying for the wedding licence from the NZ Government.

Fully Personalised Ceremony

This is my most popular option where I create a 30min ceremony that reflects everything you both want. I tell your love story in depth and work with you to have fully personalised vows, readings and any other elements you want included.

Simple Ceremony

This is a shorter (20min) ceremony that is still personalised. It includes your love story and personalised vows.

​

Registry Style

This is a short elopement style ceremony for maximum 20 guests. This is a combination of a registry and simple option, it covers a very brief history of your relationship and covers all the legal requirements to get married in NZ.

I am happy to travel to your wedding location whether that be Matakana, Waiheke Island, the South Island or somewhere inbetween!

What exactly do I do?

​

As your celebrant and/or MC I spend time getting to know you both, I find out your vision and style. I understand who you are as individuals and what your dreams and aspirations are as a couple. Occasionally, I meet your best friend or your Children or even your Grandma too. 

​

I work to get to know you both to create a personal wedding ceremony and reception that reflects you both. This is bespoke and unique to you and your wedding.

I often uncover little secrets or tidbits that you love about each other that you may have forgotten or never said aloud. I find out how you first met, what your first impressions were and when you realised the other person was the one. I work with you individually to craft your vows, conduct your ceremony and marry you.

I work with you both developing a ceremony and incorporating anything special whether that be a favourite song, a reading or a tradition. I had one couple sing their vows to each other - it was an incredibly beautiful moment!

For your reception I work with you both, your venue manager and your photographer to create a timeline that keeps everything on time and moving. I manage your wedding photo list working with your photographer to ensure all the important photos are captured. As your MC I keep everything running on time, keep your guests informed and entertained and run the evening - well until the dance floor starts anyway!

Whilst I do all of the above, I also support both of you through your wedding process. Sometimes have a confidant or just a set of ears helps ease some of the stress!
